Initially based in Berlin, this major actor on the art market recently opened branches in New York City, London, Zurich, Rome and Madrid.
Auctionata claims EUR 31.5m sales in 2014 with 12,000 lots sold, and raised EUR 41m in March 2015, after a first, successful fundraising of EUR 31.5m in 2014.
The originality of this platform lies in its exclusive auction livestream (real-time video streaming), enabling online bidders to follow the auction and bid securely.
Several auctions take place a day, with 40 to 200 lots sold each time.
Particular attention is paid to the valuation of the items, which is provided by a global network of over 200 experts who are specialists in a variety of art fields. This enables Auctionata to offer a 25-year guarantee for the items sold through its site and applying from the time of handover of the purchased item.
Auctionata offers an efficient « one-stop shop » service: the entire process from valuation of an item to sale and receipt of payment takes less than 60 days.
In addition to auctions, the site offers immediate purchase at prices fixed by its experts and through its online store.
In May 2016, the online auction platforms Auctionata and Paddle8 announced their merging in order to create “the global leader in online auctions”.
