High-performance online auction site supervised by art market professionals and auctioneers

Catawiki is an online auction site dedicated to exceptional objets d’art (from cartoons to vintage cars), describes itself as a the most prosperous online auction house in Europe.

The marketplace, launched late 2011, raised EUR 10 million in September 2014, with the aim of hiring 60 employees to strengthen its position in Europe, and eventually become the world leader in online auction for unique items.

The way the service works is simple and efficient, for sellers (get the item ready for sale easily, valuation request with a mouse click) and for buyers (alerts, next bid at a minimal price, auction extended by one minute in case of last-minute bid, in order to avoid the rush of the last seconds of the auction…)

Auctions start on Fridays at noon, at a starting price of EUR 1.00 whatever the item. They last for about 4 to 7 days, and are closed in the evening the week after.

The site’s strength lies in the work done by the 70 specialists and auctioneers supervising the auctions and thus ensuring the diversity and the quality of the lots put up for sale.

A comprehensive online catalogue features over 2.5 million items, coming with a detailed description and pictures.

A Catawiki app is available on the App Store, the Android version currently being under development.
